Latex
The main element for the production of our mattresses is natural latex.
What it is: The word comes from Latin latex = liquid. 
It's a fluid with milky and tacky look, generally white, which can be collected through special incisions (that do not damage the plant growth) practiced on Hevea brasiliensis bark, a tree that grows in Asia’s tropical forests.
How to extract it: The tree, also called " crying tree, provides one of the best and finest quality natural latex.
After completing the cut, the latex is collected in small bowls tied to the trunk.
Each Hevea Brasiliensis plant can reach up to 30 meters in height and is able to provide 3 kg of latex per year. The liquid collected then is subjected to the process of "vulcanization".
Vulcanization: This operation consists in heating the mixture obtained with natural rubber to a temperature of about 150 ° C for a little more than a half an hour.
In this way, the latex rubber is transformed and becomes elastic.
Thanks to the vulcanization, the finished product acquires an extraordinary feature: the natural and instantaneous ability to return to its original shape even if subjected to pressure or stretching.
For this reason it is the best product to produce ergo-anatomical mattresses.
How to get to the mattress
The emulsion latex is inserted inside the molds for the formation of slabs *.
The traditional method for formation of the sheets: consists in filling at 100% a mold with latex equipped with needles of different diameter, closed, and then inserted in the ovens where, with the cooking, the latex is stabilized in the form that the mold gives to it(with hundreds of holes).
After baking in special furnaces, the plates are washed several times in tap water and squeezed in order to remove processing residues.

Some manufacturers, in the processing phase of the latex, add substances such as gypsum, talc or others which are less expensive than latex - costs becomelLower but also the quality of the finished product, in fact most of latex mattresses on sale do not go beyond the 25% of latex. Marion’s latex mattresses are made exclusively with latex.
