Clean a latex mattress is important for our health

Practical tips and small tricks to ensure a periodic and complete cleaning of your mattress on which we pass one third of our day.

Cleaning the mattress is one of the most important household tasks to protect hygiene and health. Performing it frequently is also a good way to increase the durability of it. You should bear in mind that the mattress is not an object that can be changed every day, and will be with us for several years, then, it is essential to take care of it and clean it regularly. If maintenance is absent, the mattress risks to become a receptacle for dirt, dust and pests, putting seriously in danger not only the quality of our rest, but our own health, too.

What should we do, then? To avoid being left with a battered mattress you should just schedule, perhaps once a month, a good cleaning that can at least remove some of the dust and pests that develop and proliferate in wet and dusty environments.

To keep the mattress clean, follow these three basic operations:

How to eliminate mites and dust from your latex mattress
  1. Use the vacuum cleaner on both sides of the mattress at least once a month to remove dust and dust mites which can cause allergic reactions and irritation. On the contrary, we do not recommend the use of vapor appliances as the heat developed during the washing, would only increase the temperature and the humidity inside the mattress, with the result of re-creating a favorable condition to the proliferation of mites!

  2. If possible, ventilate your mattress every two months by placing it outside. This will prevent the accumulation of moisture that can lead to the growth of mold and will be a great way to banish any lost-starvation odors.

  3. Let air out the mattress whenever you change the bedding. After removing the sheets, wait a while before you recompose it, and let fresh air come in the room, leaving the window opened.

For those who have a mattress with a removable and washable cover, please read and carefully follow the washing instructions on the label for proper maintenance. Finally, for those who have to buy a new mattress or are about to change it, we recommend the models Venus and Olympus. Equipped with a special coating submitted to an antibacterial and antimicrobial sanitized treatment, these mattresses ensure a total comfort and hygiene. But Marion’s model Olympus has something more!

Comfort mattress system Olympus range of Marion

INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY Thanks to the AIRCONTROL technology - Comfort System, the model Olympus coating, becomes the ideal cover for latex mattresses because in addition to ensuring a maximum hygiene, it plays a thermoregulatory function. At bedtime, the amount of heat produced by a human can vary, depending on the season, from 100w to 700w. To normalize its temperature, the human body has only one tool: sweating.

In this regard it is essential that the coating is:

• Thermal The mattress must isolate thermally those who sleep on it. The special AIRCONTROL layer insulates from temperature changes making the bed a warm and comfortable place in all seasons.
• Breathability The hygroscopic AIRCONTROL textile layer, thanks to the conformation of its fiber, possesses a high index of transpiration. The expulsion of organic bodies and sweat takes place in the lower part of the mattress also by means of the mechanical action of the slats on which it rests. The rapid elimination of moisture and organic residues prevents the formation of mold, mites and bacteria.
