Instructions for a perfect bed

Making the bed is a daily habit that, if developed, will always make you be ready to receive a last minute visit from friends or relatives. It seems almost incredible, but this simple action can have an impact on the rest of our day. Those who like to leave their room in order before they leave their house, for example, will begin their work commitments with a more relaxed mind.
Yet , making the bed is not an easy task for everyone (sometimes it even becomes a real nightmare ! ) , especially for men who are less familiar than women.
Stay strong ...you do not have to be a perfect housewife and you just need simple little things to have a perfect and neat room and a bed well-done. So men : do not panic ! Follow our advice and , in a short time , you will have a bed as an Ikea bedroom!

Before diving into the highlight of this " boring " operation , there are small steps to follow . First of all, open the windows widely to ventilate the room, then clear the bed by removing pillows, sheets and blankets . Raise and shake off the mattress well (perhaps with the help of a beater) to remove any dust or mites . Pass the vacuum cleaner or a dust cloth first under the bed and then across the room to eliminate dust and hair residues (especially if you own a pet!). Remember that for a proper hygiene the sheets have to be changed every 15 days in winter and at least every week in summer.

The composition of the layers changes depending on the season and, therefore, the external and internal temperature. The procedure is always the same. Just remove some extra blanket and you're done! Here is what you need:
• mattress cover
• set of sheets with pillowcases
• blanket
• bedspread / comforter
This set of textile is worth for more or less all types of beds: single, French, queen size bed and double bed.

The mattress cover

The first thing you need to do is to put on the mattress its cover. Usually it has rubber bands at the corners, so it is practical to wear. It is made of a very light and fresh cotton, it is useful to protect the mattress from dust and also from stains, so you should not skip this step. Even the pillows need to be protected, thus insert them in the pillowcases.

Immediately after the mattress cover, proceed by placing the bottom sheet. This is also practical to place as it is provided with angular elastics that allow a perfect adherence to the mattress. Without folds and wrinkles the bed will be more comfortable! Then comes the turn of the top sheet. Remember that it should lay on the reverse side of the mattress, so that the fold we do on the top, which usually contains a drawing or an embroidery, will be on the right side.
Placing the top sheet, measure the abundance of bringing down at the sides and at the bottom of the bed: it should be about 30-40 cm. At this point you can tuck in the excess of the sheet over the feet of the bed, creating an angle with the form of an "envelope" useful to maintain the sheets in order.
Then proceed with the "dressing up" of the pillows with their pillowcases and plump them up before being placed on the bed.

Blanket and bedspread / comforter

Now switch to the fourth layer, the blanket / bedspread. Choose it depending on the season or intensity of heat that you want to receive once you stuck inside. Roll it neatly over all the available area. Do the same thing with the bedspread, remembering to bring down the excess on all sides. Cuff the upper edge of fifty cm. Do the same with the blanket and the sheet so that you can see the design or embroidery. Now, make a flap over the pillows to seal the unit.
The same should be done if you use a duvet. It would be useful to insert it in a quilt cover appreciated by many for its dual conservative and aesthetic function. Essential especially for those who like to frequently change imagination and give a new look to the bedroom.
Place the duvet in the bag placing it correctly so that it takes up all the space available to it. Close the open lower side, usually with buttons, click-clack or laces. Now roll out the duvet and fold up the pillows. Bend above the fold of the sheet and fold it again over the pillows so as to hide them from view.
At this point, according to your personal taste or style of your room or of the model of your bed, you could decide to roll up all the excess of the three sides under the mattress or to drop it to create a drape.

Finishing touches

To end, if you are sensitive to cold and you have a plaid or blanket that you love so much and you want to keep it always at hand, put it well on the bed. Fold it in half and place it on the lower part of the bed. In this way, in addition to being useful, it will also be decorative (provided that the color fits well!). Or, if you love the abundance, add pillows of different sizes putting them against the headboard randomly, as a checkboard, standing. You'll get a fantastic, creative and colorful chic effect (trying to avoid the "harlequin").
